What is Glad Day Lit?
Glad Day Lit is an incorporated non-profit organization that supports LGBT2SQ writers, artists and community members. It supports all the non-profit work that happens by or at Glad Day Bookshop.
Why support Glad Day Lit?
We are seeing an increased attack on LGBT2SQ spaces, people and rights.
By supporting Glad Day Lit, you are supporting an organization that is providing a unique space for gathering, a grassroots system of paying artists and providing direct services to community members. Glad Day helps people stay safe, increase their stability, become stronger, and increase joy, art and love in the world.
What kinds of things does a donation fund?
Glad Day Lit donations go to a wide range of artistic, literary and community initiatives. We also have a small fund for people in crisis.
Everything we do is too long to list here, but some examples are:
Organizing the yearly LGBT2SQ literary festival : Naked Heart
Paying performers for live shows
Paying writers for skill sharing or speaking on panels
Offering workshops to our communities
Providing some seed money for crafters and visual artists
Providing free space for open stages and mentorship for new performers
Providing free space for underfunded community group meetings
Providing informal peer support and a wide range of referrals
Increasing neighbourhood safety and crisis intervention
Responding quickly to community emergencies
Supporting teachers with curated resources, speaker referrals and education
……And much much much much more!
